Be A Gift Of Love
“Because of the great love with which he loved us, God made us alive together with Christ” (Ephesians 2:4–5). His love literally give us life.
The spirit of Christmas is Love - reaching out, giving, support. This is also a time to step out and do something you may never have done before, and be the ray of sunlight in another person's life. This may not be family, it could be a random stranger or an elderly neighbor, could be a child living with disability, or visiting an orphanage or children's hospital. Here are a few ways you can be a gift of love, wherever you go.
1. Do something you've never done for that stranger
Offer a gift to someone and expect nothing in return. This doesn't have to be an expensive gift, it could be something intangible but with value. How you can do this? You could get donuts for an orphanage, buy some toys and donate them too, (If you cannot afford to buy one at the moment but you have some toys your kids can let go of, donate them,) visit a nursing home and give flowers, spend some time with them, make a donation, visit a shelter and hand out stockings, jackets. You don't have to buy a new one, your old one will do. You get the Idea
2. Do something you have never done or hardly ever do for your kids
Write your child a love note and put it in their pockets, on their toys, their bedside. Offer to help them with something.
3. For your partner
Is there something he loves that you used to do but no longer do? May be because life go busier. Can you bring it back? Or perhaps modify it? What can you do for him that will leave him short of words? Something out of your way? Could be going to a conference with him (if you don't like public places, this may be a big deal and it qualifies as going all out), wake him up with kisses, buy a getaway ticket for two
4. Your friends and family
Send them flowers. If you hardly or never call, now is a good time to reach out. THIS IS NOT FOR YOU TO RE INVITE TOXIC PEOPLE. Some relationships are best from far. This particular point is for your good friends who may be due to distance you haven't seen for a long time. Call or visit your parents if you hardly ever do. They won’t be here forever, do their laundry, cook them food, do what you can for them.
